Year 7 & 8 Cricket, Northolt vs. Greenford

13 June 2018

Northolt did themselves proud in an exciting contest at Greenford High, which ended in an agonisingly narrow defeat. Put into bat by the opposition, Northolt amassed a total of 103 in 15 overs. Captain Luke Davies led from the front as he gave impetus to the innings with boundaries all around the ground. He was ably support by Harmit Vedi before a flurry of wickets, including a hat-trick, ripped out the Northolt middle order. Luckily, Aakash Lama and Sohail Taufiq came to the rescue with some lusty blows, including a sumptuous six over square leg from Aakash, in order to take the total to three figures.

Sahel Taufiq, not to be outdone by his twin, opened the bowling with a dangerous spell which saw him claim two victims and finish as our top wicket taker. The breakthrough came when a well-struck pull shot was snaffled by a stretching Muadh Abdellaoui at square leg. Equally impressive catches from Abhi Patel and Awandeep Sadhu along with electric fielding and wicketkeeping from Prabhjot Singh and Panth Patel meant that it was anyone’s game going into the final overs. Peter Davies bravely volunteered to bowl the final over but, despite his tight bowling and him combining with the dynamic Abbas Kazmi to enact a runout, Greenford held on to win by the skin of their teeth.

Congratulations to all the boys for a fantastic performance which Mr. Baglan and Mr. Dancey thoroughly enjoyed.
