'King Bones' at Northolt High School

 King Bones (1)

Demonstrating our commitment to reading for pleasure, we welcomed new author, Chris Hallett Wells, to our school on Monday 24th September.

King Bones (3)Chris gave a talk to all of our Year 7 and 8 students about his children’s book, ‘King Bones’, a funny adventure about a boy who helps the ghost of a king that he meets in a graveyard.

The students listened attentively and laughed at the funniest bits as Chris read some chapters of the book to them.  We particularly enjoyed hearing about Aunty Ratbag.

After the talk, students were able to buy copies of ‘King Bones’ which Chris signed.

A small group of Year 7 students then took part in a creative writing workshop led by Chris.  This supported work that Year 7King Bones (2) students are doing on villains this term in English.  Chris gave advice on creating villains and helped the students create their own villainous characters.  The workshop ended with a chance for our students to enthusiastically ask questions about his life as an author and his favourite books and films.

Copies of ‘King Bones’ are still available for sale from the school library until 5th October at the discounted price of £6.00.
