Flying and Soaring with High School Musical at Northolt High School

Demi Roscoe, Year 11.
High School Musical is a film that brings back many nostalgic memories for most of us; I'm very sure almost everyone has seen it at least once in their lives!  So when I was given the chance to take part in our school’s very own rendition of it, there was no way I could refuse and looking back now, I’m glad that I didn't.
Being part of the production was brilliant, not only did I enjoy the performing on stage (being a GCSE Drama student myself) but meeting new people was a real perk of the whole experience. It was a chance to meet and bond with other years through the art of performance. From goofing around singing ‘Breaking Free’ to learning cheesy choreography, there was always laughter and that's what made this production such a success: everyone coming together as a drama family.
I have never been a part of a show like this; the support from teachers and other cast members was outstanding. They really pushed me out of my comfort zone and brought me out of my shell. They helped me bring my character, Mrs Darbus, to life; without them I don't think I would have been as confident and developed as a character.
Working on such a huge project like this really gives you the chance to try new things and create memories. Never in a million years did I think I would be singing in front of hundreds of people- the theatre was packed out on both nights!
High School Musical was such a phenomenal experience; it gave us all a chance to open up and have strength to believe. I truly feel it brought the whole school community together and I would do it all again in a heartbeat and for the two nights we performed we all felt there wasn’t a star any of us couldn’t reach.
