Admissions to Sixth Form
Application to the Sixth Form is open to all students, irrespective of their previous place of study. Any student with a serious intent to study may apply to join our Sixth Form.
Students wishing to study at A Level must have gained at least 5 Grade C passes at GCSE Level, including English Language and Mathematics, with at least a Grade B in any subject they wish to study at A Level. In the case of subjects not previously studied, subject specific criteria will apply. Students may apply to study 4 A Levels although this may be reduced to 3 A Levels dependent on GCSE results. Students studying 3 A Levels will usually also study the Core Maths qualification.
Students wishing to study a Level 3 vocational course would be expected to have at least 5 Grade C passes at GCSE Level including English and Mathematics or at least Merit Award at Level 2 with Grade C at GCSE in English and Mathematics. Specific entry criteria apply and are available from the course information booklet.
For A Levels, progression to Year 13 is dependent on at least a Grade D in Year 12. BTEC level 3 students are expected to be on track to achieve MMM in order to progress to year 13.
Attendance of 95% is also expected to progress into Year 13.
