Relationships and Sex Education

Relationships and Sex Education at Northolt High School

Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) involves learning about families, respectful relationships, including friendships and sexual relationships and about being safe in the real world and online.  It is taught as part of PSHCE lessons.

RSE contributes to the emotional, social and cultural development of pupils, and involves learning about relationships, sexual health, sexuality, healthy lifestyles, diversity and personal identity. The curriculum aims to foster self-worth whilst recognising, accepting and respecting differences. It also provides pupils with life-skills that will enable them to make informed decisions and protect themselves against harmful and exploitative situations. RSE is therefore an important tool to safeguard children.

Our RSE Policy (which you can find here) aims to be sensitive towards the established morals and values framework of all the major world religions and philosophies.

Our RSE policy was developed in collaboration with staff, students and families.  Families told us that they were keen to support RSE learning at home and wanted to be clear about what was being covered in school and where they could get more information themselves.

Therefore below you will find Schemes of Learning which give details on the content being covered as well as useful links from trusted organisations which provide more detail.  Families can click on these links to get advice, information and resources.  Currently these are published for the summer term for Years 9, 10 and 11, with more to follow for other year groups shortly.
