Celebration of Success Awards Evening 2019

Posted on: Jul 23

Our third annual Celebration of Success Awards Evening was held on Thursday 11th July in the North Hall. This auspicious event provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the academic, sporting and cultural achievements of our students in Years 7-10 and in Year 13, as well as to recognise those who epitomise our values of Courage, Pride and Respect.

Key Stage 3 and 4 academic awards were presented in three categories: Attitude to Learning, Progress and Attainment. The prestigious Governors' Awards were presented by our Chair of Governors, Mike Hulme. These were awarded to students in each year group who live the school values everyday. Recipients were decided on following nominations from students and members of staff.

This year the Walker Cup for Academic Excellence was presented to Hossai Hemat who is currently reading Medicine at the University of St Andrew's in Fife, Scotland, which was ranked in the top three universities in the UK in the 2019 league tables, along with Cambridge and Oxford.

Hossai started at Northolt High School in September 2011, aged just 11 years. Hossai's early desire to study medicine gave her an acute focus on the task at hand, and it was a privilege to witness her composure during her final A Level exams. She proved herself to be a self confident student with excellent bedside manners and the ability to empathise.

Hossai has just completed her first year at university, having left Northolt High School in 2018 with no less than four A levels, all at A grade or higher.  We can think of no better time than now to invite her back in order to celebrate her academic success thus far and to wish her the very best of luck for her future, which will no doubt be filled with more hard work, determination and achievement.
