Bright futures ahead for Northolt High School Students

Posted on: Aug 14

Students at Northolt High School, soon to be Islip Manor High School, are celebrating the next steps in their journeys following this summer’s A Level and BTEC results. With strong progress across both academic and vocational pathways, these results reflect the school’s commitment to inspiring bright futures.

The breadth of subjects studied in the Sixth Form reflects the diverse interests and ambitions of its students, with qualifications offered in A Level Biology, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Maths, Physics and Psychology as well as BTEC Applied Science, BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport and BTEC Sports Coaching. This wide curriculum enables every student to find a pathway that plays to their strengths and sets them up for their chosen future.

Former Willow Tree Primary School pupil Dan was all smiles after achieving BBC in A Level Economics, Maths and Physics. He credits the engaging lessons and supportive atmosphere for helping him thrive, describing the Sixth Form as “fun and motivating.” Dan is now looking forward to studying Maths at Queen Mary University of London, with ambitions to build a successful career in the future.

Having moved from Nigeria just two years ago, Joella has embraced every opportunity at the Sixth Form. She achieved BBB in her A Level Business, Economics, and Psychology studies, and credits her teachers for building her confidence and independence. She says it’s the community that make the Sixth Form so special. Joella has gained a place on the prestigious Insight2Uni programme for high achieving black-heritage students, providing her with mentorship and university guidance over the next year. She then has her sights set on university to read Law in the future.

Among the successes are students on the Sixth Form’s unique sports pathways, delivered in partnership with Queens Park Rangers and Future Stars. These specialist routes enable students to combine high-quality academic study with elite-level coaching, match experience and mentoring from industry professionals across football, basketball and volleyball.

Future Stars basketball player Wisdom didn’t just shine on the court; he also achieved D*DD in his studies alongside his peers Ashja and Daniel. Wisdom will now study Physical Therapy at the University of East London, aiming for a career that helps others succeed in sport. On the QPR Sports Coaching programme, there were some standout performances – Jonny, Connor, Max and Lake all achieved an exceptional D*D*D*, Oliwia secured D*D*D and Megan earned D*DD – a testament to their commitment both in the classroom and on the pitch.

Behind every grade is a story of hard work, determination and resilience, qualities that mirror our school’s core values of being courageous, confident, curious, creative and collaborative. Notable successes include:

  • Former Wood End Primary School pupil Jermaine admits he was nervous on results day, but opening his envelope to see D*DD in BTEC Applied Science was a moment of pride. He praises his teachers for pushing him beyond what he thought possible and says the Sixth Form’s small class sizes and personalised approach made a real difference to his learning. Jermaine is now planning to take his skills into the next stage of his education, aiming to study Computer Science at university.
  • Beaming with pride, Ruwayda opened her results to find she had achieved DMM in BTEC Applied Science. Having joined from Willow Tree Primary in Year 7, she knew she wanted to stay on for Sixth Form, valuing the structure, routine and high expectations from teachers who knew her well. Inspired by her Biology teacher, she now plans to study Forensic Science at Kingston University. She describes her school journey in three words: “exciting, challenging, rewarding”.
  • Nicholas achieved an outstanding D*D*D* in BTEC Applied Science. Joining the school in Year 9, he has overcome challenges and grown academically, personally and socially. He will now study Accounting and Finance at City St George’s, University of London, with a bright future ahead.
  • Former Viking Primary School pupil Mohammad achieved D*DD in BTEC Applied Science. He says the encouragement from teachers and the practical, hands-on approach to learning inspired him to aim high. He will now study Accounting and Finance at City St George’s, University of London.

Speaking about the achievements, Sujeewa Gadd, Director of Sixth Form, said: “It’s the personal journeys that matter most - students who have overcome challenges, found their confidence, uncovered new skills, talents and interests, and discovered what they are truly capable of. Whatever their next step, we are so very proud of each and every one of them and cannot wait to see what incredible things are achieved next.”

A determination to succeed is already shining through in the school’s Year 12 students, whose strong AS Level performances have set them up to aim even higher next year. Maleeka, Karan, Axel and Aleksander each achieved an A grade in Physics, while Gagandeep earned an A in Chemistry. Maleeka reflected on her results, saying: “Achieving an A in Physics and B in Biology this year has made me even more determined to push myself further in Year 13. Thanks to my inspirational teacher, my goal is to continue my Physics studies at a Russell Group university, completing both a Bachelor of Science and Masters degree.”

Headteacher, Marion Budd commented: “Our mission is to ensure every student succeeds in life today and in the future, and today’s results are a testament to that mission in action. These achievements reflect the dedication of our staff, the ambition of our students, and the support of our school and wider community. As we move towards our relaunch as Islip Manor High School this September and into our brand new state-of-the-art building in Spring 2026, we are excited about the even greater opportunities our students will have to achieve success.”

With a new name, a clear vision and modern facilities on the horizon, the school is looking ahead with optimism. The Sixth Form will continue to evolve, with plans to expand subject choices, strengthen industry links and offer a breadth of enriching experiences, continuing to empower the growth of vibrant minds and helping every student take the next step with confidence.
